Job Description

Detechtion Technologies engineers the electronics, applications and predictive analytics that deliver superior operations and safety performance for E&P, midstream and energy service companies. Detechtion is looking for a junior Field I&E (Instrumentation & Electrical) Technician to install, repair, and maintain electronics for monitoring and controlling equipment, well sites, and facilities.  We are looking for candidates located in the Permian Basin (Midland/Odessa area) or anyone interested in relocating to that location.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage maintenance and revisions for existing hardware products
  • Lead development of new hardware products
  • Manage maintenance and revisions for associated firmware/software products, including cellular and satellite communication management
  • Lead development and support of tools for device/firmware management, including OTA distribution
  • Manage team of hardware and firmware engineers
  • Track and communicate estimates, timelines, and status for hardware and related software development activities and release milestones
  • Recommend and help define and implement the hardware and software development lifecycle processes and tools
  • Work with Product Steering Team to define/scope of hardware product changes or new product development
  • Manage development of documentation (internal and external)
  • Interface with Network providers (satellite, cell, etc.)
  • Manage escalated support issues
  • Work with Contract Manufacturers for build process, quality control, supply chain issues
  • Manage certifications (hazardous location, network carrier/provider, etc.)

Required Skills/Experience:

  • At least 8 years developing micro-processor- and micro-controller-based systems – from design to manufacturing
  • At least 2 years developing firmware for embedded devices
  • At least 3 years managing a team of engineers and leading hardware projects
  • Analog and Digital expertise
  • RF component integration – cellular, satellite, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi
  • Strong grasp of manufacturing process
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Knowledge of RTOS, linux
  • Strong knowledge of hardware development IDEs (Altium, etc.)
  • Firmware development IDEs (Kinetis Studio, etc.)

Bonus Skills/Experience:

  • RF module design – cellular, satellite, etc.
  • Certification/Compliance Process for Hazloc, FCC and IC
  • Oil and Gas Industry
  • IIoT platforms (Amazon IoT, Azure IoT)
